The Lancôme x Louvre collaboration will delight beauty and art lovers alike

There has been no shortage of beauty collabs over the last several years. The best ones are those that just make sense, leading to products that are as beautiful as they are functional. I don’t think there’s ever been a more perfect collab than the new one between Lancôme and the Louvre Museum—two French icons that joined forces for a fall beauty collection you’ll want to shop right now.

“I am delighted by this debut collaboration with Lancôme, which highlights with incredible talent the diversity of forms of beauty found in the Louvre collections—a dialogue between cultures and civilizations that transcends time and geography,” Louvre president-director Laurence des Cars said in a release. “Campaign ambassadresses like the Venus de Milo, the Nymph With a Scorpion, and the Diana of Gabii are an opportunity for us to transport iconic and inspiring classical images, and to compare and contrast them with contemporary images and canons.”

Lancôme’s new Louvre Limited Edition Collection features four shades of L’Absolu Rouge Matte lipsticks, a new take on the iconic bottle of the Advanced Génifique serum, and the five-pan Richelieu Wing face and eye shadow palette, each wrapped in the imagery of a classic piece from Paris’s world-famous museum. The creamy Celestial Rose lipstick, for example, features a depiction of the sculpture La Nymphe Echo by Lemoyne Saint Paul printed on its cap.

The stunning palette is the favorite of Lancôme global makeup artist Sheika Daley. “I can’t wait for everyone to try it,” she tells us in an exclusive interview. “The colors can be worn on the eyes and double as beautiful highlighters for all over the face and body—it’s magical.” Each of the shimmery new shades is named for a different part of the museum’s Richelieu Wing, and the sculpture of the Greek poet Corine housed there is embossed in the makeup and appears on the case.

Zendaya returns for this Lancôme campaign, photographed with two of the museum’s most famous ancient Greek sculptures: The Winged Victory of Samothrace, goddess of victory, and the Venus of Arles, a statue of the goddess of love. “To me, [Samothrace’s] posture demonstrates a confident and victorious woman,” Zendaya said in a release. “A powerful symbol of achievement. And that’s what true beauty is: drawing on our own story to give ourselves wings, a way to empower ourselves.” The Dune: Part Two actor joins brand ambassadors Amanda Seyfried, Aya Nakamura, and He Cong for the holiday collection visuals.

The collaboration aims to inspire the next generation of beauty and art lovers with products and images that encourage strength and confidence. “Makeup can transform a person into many different personas and moods,” Daley noted.
